Sew Lovely - Craftroom Armoury part 2


Oh yeah, its update time.

It has been a while since I uploaded the last update for Sew Lovely, but this update is 2 smashed together to give the game a brand new paint of coat. I argue the game feels brand new and actually presentable (in my eyes)

The 2 updates were meant to focus on 'bringing the bar of art quality up' and 'AI overhaul for replayability and clean combat' 

More stuff has gone in such adding 5 new levels and a flashy new player thread. So here is the new stuff;


Player Sewing

  • Player thread is now a solid 2-tone line that is much easier to see
  • New player collision for more accurate pushing 
  • Sewing hit-boxes are halved in size, making it easier to sew around enemies

Art + Animations

  • Added angry shake animations to the AI depending on their attack
  • Breathe anim for Pin
  • Fresh Pom Bom animations 
  • New art and animation for the bomb 
  • New explosion fx
  • Remade shadows to give game better depth

Sounds

  • New metal hit sound for shield breaks and Knight hit
  • Improved player hit sounds
  • Sleep sounds
  • A menacing ticking clock sound will now countdown the level

AI enemies

  • New art for every enemy. Each enemy has 6 skin variants
  • Added sleeping. Enemies have a chance to fall asleep at the start of the level and throughout the game (if left alone)
  • New attack system gives some enemies a long and short range attack
  • Enemy attacks can be interrupted when hit (if they use the red flare angry anim)
  • Hitting an enemy will give it knockback. If the AI is close to the map edge it will instead get pushed towards the middle of the map
  • Improved the danger marker and started to use it for teleport and projectile attacks

Baad

Refined Baad into a less frustrating, mirage style enemy. 

  • Defeating the original now destroys all its copies
  • Copies cannot multiply or attack
  • New leap move - Leaps away when you try to sew it from long range 

Pin

Made Pin easier to engage and understand

  • Long range attack added - Pin goes underground and sticks its needle out
  • Pin will now sleep when returning to it’s pillow after 6 seconds
  • While Pin is alive, it’s pillow will be red to show its still being used and you cannot push it yet

Pom Bom 

  • Will no longer fire artillery while its charging it’s AOE attack or if its sleeping
  • Napom will no longer burn and linger on the ground

Knit Knight 

Goal was to make it a much less repetitive enemy 

  • While wall dashing, enemies who get in it’s way will get pushed 
  • Wall dash will let it bounce off the wall at a random angle, becoming a wild projectile
  • New short range attack is a simple 2D dash 
  • A physical shield covers Knight while in it’s shield phase

Levels

  • 5 new levels! Some later levels have been shuffled for a better difficulty curve
  • Adjusted health, times and AI count to make levels more consistent and easier
  • Added environmental items to more levels
  • Improved background colours for visual clarity
  • Some levels renamed
  • Removed Pommel

UI

  • Improved level 1 setup for an easier tutorial level on how to sew
  • Cleaner level select UI
  • New splash screen to focus on update titles
